Our Heritage Day Showcase on the 24th of September went off with a bang, we had a packed theatre and the energy in the room was palpable. It was a joyous celebratory occasion and the perfect opportunity to celebrate the cultural wealth and diversity of our beautiful nation.
All four of our classes performed an item, which they prepared over a very short period of time, since we had only launched on the 3rd of September. This made what they had achieved that much more special and the perfect scenario for our very first performance in the space. Each item touched on what it was like to be South African, highlighting the good, the bad and the ugly. But ultimately highlighting the fact that as South Africans we are resilient and through humour we always find the silver lining.
We had guest performances by The Ithemba Labantu African dancers and drummers and they brought the energy and set the place alive, their performances were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Radio personality Clarence Ford and Actor/Radio Presenter Mehboob Bawa shared some insight with our kids on working in the multimedia industry and following their dreams.
Everyone left the theatre reeling with hope and joy, feeling proud to be South African!
